Zombie tag is a laser tag scenario set in a zombie apocalypse: some players fight as armed survivors, others hunt as infected zombies with special rules. This guide helps arenas, event organizers and private groups run the game with official LASERWAR equipment.
What do you need for zombie tag?
- Game sets (taggers) for the human team — e.g. AK-12 Irbis, AK-12LT Predator or MP9-LT Phoenix.
- Zombie headbands with firmware for infected players.
- A venue: indoor arena, maze or outdoor field with cover.
- At least 6 players — the more, the better the apocalypse atmosphere.
How are teams split?
In the classic scenario, players divide into humans and zombies. A typical ratio is 2:1 in favor of humans. Humans carry taggers; zombies use special headbands with IR emitters and boosted health and damage stats.
See detailed rules for each product line in our zombie tag scenarios section.
How does a round work?
- Start: players take positions; zombies receive headbands.
- Humans shoot zombies; a hit removes a zombie or converts them — depending on the scenario.
- Zombies infect humans: after being hit, a human respawns as a zombie after a set delay.
- The round ends when one side controls all players.
Which weapons should you choose?
Open fields suit Alphatag and classic laser tag rifles. Tight indoor mazes call for the compact MP9-LT Phoenix. Browse guns from movies and guns from video games for inspiration.
